Wedding Trailer | Welcome to the Hamptons

Mariel and Jamie love the Hamptons. So it’s no surprise that they would plan the most important day of their lives to take place here. Ironically, one of Mariel’s close family friends recently bought a beautiful horse farm in the Hamptons and Mariel’s dad happen to see it. Once he saw the staircase, he said “Mariel is going to get married here one day.” Fast forward to their engagement party, that same family friend surprised the bride and groom by offering the home for their wedding location. Of course they said “yes.” The weekend started off at Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club for their rehearsal dinner followed by a beautiful bonfire on the beach after dessert. The next day was the big day. The ceremony took place right next to the reception tent during sunset followed by an outdoor cocktail hour. The reception was decorated like a dream wedding featuring all-star entertainment by Marianne Bennett Productions. We had the pleasure of working with talented photographer Ira Lippke and his team of Ira Lippke Studios as well as the mastermind behind all the planning Sofia Crokos and her team at Sofia Crokos Events. Wedding Teaser at Tribeca Rooftop | New York City

The Story

Their are certain milestones in your life that stand out above others. Getting married, having a child and graduating from a good school are a few of the biggest. These accomplishments can often be as stressful as they are satisfying. People recommend you space these major events out, but Casey and Ehren are doing them all at the same time.

When the couple found out Casey was pregnant they had under 4 months to plan an entire wedding. That’s the kind of pressure that freezes a lot of people. But, with the help of their family and friends they not only pulled it together, they did it with style.

The most impressive thing about the whole day was just how relaxed Casey and Ehren were. They were positive, always had a smile on their faces and never stressed.

Casey and Ehren had their wedding at Tribeca Rooftop. This New York wedding venue is one of our favorites and has stunning views of the city. Casey and Ehren took full advantage of the venue. Saying their vows at sunset with the Freedom Tower and lower Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.

One of the things most important to the father of the bride was getting some killer drone footage. Anyone that flies drones knows that NYC is about the most daring place to fly a drone so we brought in Daniel Herbert from SkyGear Solutions who did an amazing job.

Plane Ticket to Korea | Wedding Teaser

Julie and Joseph’s story is right out of a movie. They met by chance in college, lost touch, and then reconnected four years later. Joseph knew then that Julie was the one, but there was a problem. She was moving to Korea. This would have ended most relationships. Except Joseph made the kind of romantic gesture that makes the rest of us look bad. He decided to fly to Korea and to tell her how he felt. We couldn’t have made up a better story if we tried.

Julie and Joseph told us they chose Blue Hill because it reflected who they were as a couple. They love how quaint it is and how it wasn’t a typical wedding ballroom. We love shooting there for exactly the same reason. It’s rustic, beautiful and the food is awesome.

We had a great story to tell and a great venue, but we also had a few outstanding professionals to work with. Anisha Arouza and her planning team from Just About Married kept the day moving and organized. DJ Jason Fioto from Generation Events helped us get the best audio possible.

Cedar Lakes Cabin Wedding

Rustic Wedding Video | Cedar Lakes Cabin

Amy and Brandon were married in sleep-away camp style at Cedar Lakes Cabins in Port Jervis, New Jersey. They chose the venue because they were attracted to the idea of making it a fun active weekend with family and close friends. One of the things we like to ask our couples is the story of how they got together. Amy and Brandon met online, but during their first date they discovered that they actually had been living right across the street from each other. These are the kind of details you can only get by doing your research and speaking with the couple before the wedding day.

We set their first look up near a lake with Brandon standing on an intimate dock while Amy approached him. This allowed us and the photographer to get creative sequences with the bride and groom before the formalities kicked in. By the time the bride walked down the aisle the sun was completely down and we provided additional film lighting outside. This made it possible for us to capture the ceremony as it was literally pitch black outside.

New York City Beach Storm

“Third Day” by Generdyn | Music licensed by The Music Bed

Alison and Timothy chose one of the most prestigious hotels on Long Island to get married at…the Allegria Hotel in Long Beach, New York. And the reason why? Alison told us that they loved the beach and New York City so it would make perfect sense to pick a venue with gorgeous ocean views and the NYC skyline. One problem…. they woke up to the early signs of a hurricane raging outside on the day of their wedding, but this didn’t stop their positive outlook.

While filming the ceremony, we were completely taken by surprise when the fire alarm went off, as if on cue, right in the middle of their vows. Alison and Timothy could have lost it, but instead they burst out in laughter along with the audience and carried on. These are the type of clients we love to work with, and if there’s one thing we love here at Pennylane, it’s when things don’t go as planned like Alison and Timothy’s wedding.

Two Girls in Beacon Falls

“Virginia” by Longlake | Licensed by The Music Bed

Shannon and Beth’s wedding was the first same-sex wedding we filmed with two brides. If anyone knows us here at Pennylane, it’s that we love different. So when Shannon and Beth contacted us about their wedding, we were excited to work with them. They got married at the Roundhouse at Beacon Falls which has a great rustic feel. Because of this we graded the film with a low-contast and faded finish to match the style of their wedding. One of the coolest things about the venue is its placement right in the middle of Beacon, NY. The town has a lot of personality and we were particually pumped when we found out that Shannon and Beth were completely open to filming the first look on the train tracks, but we moved quickly even though we were told the trains do not run on the tracks anymore.

The two brides shared a secret with us in the morning. When they went to get their marriage license they couldn’t decide whose last name to take. After a lot of back and forth they chose, but decided not to tell their friends or family until it was announced at the end of their ceremony. We knew when we sat down to edit we would make this the centerpiece story of their highlight film.
