A Wedding at Oheka Castle, New York

Oheka Castle is probably one of the most prestigious wedding locations in New York. We had the pleasure of filming Allison and Richard’s wedding there in April of 2015. Our good friend Rocco from Camelot Photography studios was the photographer. For the ceremony, the bride and groom decided to exchange their vows at a church in Garden City, NY called Cathedral of the Incarnation. This is one of the most beautiful churches on Long Island and probably one of the tallest with it’s grand steeple overlooking Nassau County. Something unique about this wedding was that Allison and Richard decided to do a first look even though they had a church ceremony. Usually this is not the case but it allowed Rocco to get a head start with family and bridal party shots so we could work with the bride and groom later in the day as the sun went down. They finished off the night with a bridal party send off holding sparklers in the back of the castle.

What’s Most Important When Planning A Wedding?

Weddings are huge endeavors, with hundreds of details to work out and they often can become overwhelming for couples to plan. It’s easy to get bogged down with tiny details and forget about the big picture.

So, how do you know what to put at the top of your planning list?
Lindsey, a Pennylane bride from 2012 has an easy answer.

“Do the big things first.

See more of Lindsey’s advice in the video above and make sure to check out our other Wedding Tips for helpful hints on how make your wedding day as stress free as possible.

Keep checking the blog and our social media sites as we regularly release more short videos like this covering topics like wedding photography, wedding images, how important a wedding videographer is, wedding video pricing, the difference between a wedding videographer and a wedding cinematographer, and more.

The Bellmore Story

The Bellmore story features our bride and groom, Danielle and Ryan, who started dating back in high school when they attended Bellmore’s Wellington C. Mepham High School. Minutes after we started filming at the bride’s house, dad was popping open some Dom Pérignon for the girls. Ryan got a special gift delivered from his bride but seemed surprised by the size of the box. Of course the groom had sent his boys back with a gift for Danielle as well. As predicted in his card, he made his soon-to-be-wife cry after opening the gifts.

They exchange their vows at a local Church called St. Barnabas the Apostle in Bellmore, New York and afterwards, made a quick pitstop at their old high school where they were greeted by a congratulatory sign on the school ground. Instead of looking for a park with pretty flowers, we all opted to make our way to the local pub at McBride’s down the road. There was no shortage of alcohol consumption for the bridal party but after everyone left, dad got stuck with the bill.

The Reception was held in Fox Hollow’s Somerley Room and was entertained by local popular DJ’s Body Rock.

What Are You Doing New Years Eve?

“Oh my gosh, thats crazy, thats insane, I love it”, beamed Andrea as she excitedly opened her gift from her fiance Kevin.  This reaction may have been because of the beautiful Cartier bracelet she had just unwrapped, but it also might have been because Kevin had cleverly made Andrea think he had forgotten to get her a gift at all.

The surprises didn’t belong exclusively to Kevin though. Andrea, (with her brother on guitar), had secretly recorded a video of her singing “What are You Doing New Year’s Eve?” a song that brought to mind the first time Kevin had asked her out.  She then loaded it on an iPad and sent over. When her husband to be watched it, he broke down. We weren’t there to film this emotional moment, but thanks to the Jeff Mosier we have an awesome black and white still of Kevin reacting to the song. Jeff Mosier is pretty awesome, you should check his stuff out here.

Whether it was a bridesmaid teaching the Dougie, Andrea taking a walk down memory lane, or the party raging at the Garden City Hotel, Andrea and Kevin’s day was overflowing with that something we always look for….. story.  Sit back and enjoy this short highlight reel from Andrea and Kevin’s wedding.

Staten Island Wedding

This is a 6 minute excerpt from Tara and Jason’s full wedding film.

There is a certain feel when we do Staten Island wedding stories unlike any other place in New York. What I can say about families that live here is that they are so real. Nothing holds back anyone from saying anything and we admire that so much. We love when characters in the wedding are outspoken and speak a lot. It gives us so many choices for voice over to tell the story in a real way. Tara and Jason’s church was at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Staten Island and their reception took place at The Palace At Somerset Park, New Jersey.

When we ask the groomsmen to do something unique during the preparations, it always gives us a better story line to follow and usually loosen everyone up for the camera. In this wedding, they needed to pick up some supplies at the liquor store because…why not? We arranged someone close to the B&G to deliver the cards back and forth because they only lived about 10 minutes away from each other.

Special thanks to good friend Dave Venturini for helping out as guest filmmaker and of course always a pleasure to work with our close friends at Ricky Restiano Photography…great to see you again Anthony.

Please enjoy and don’t be too upset at the end, we mean well…really!

Tribeca Rooftop Wedding in New York

Wedding at Tribeca Rooftop in New York. Christin and Adam’s entire day took place at Tribeca Rooftop in Manhattan. We finally got to work along side talented NY wedding photographer Danny Weiss and he was great. We had a very trendy creative session on the cobble stone streets of New York City right outside the venue. Earlier in the day, the bridesmaids encountered a 2 celebrity singers and even asked them to join the wedding.

After the dress was on, Christin was ready to rock and roll for her first look. The moment was amazing and emotional as hoped and even more emotions followed as we experienced their beautiful ceremony held in the main loft area of the venue. The cocktail hour took place on the roof right about sunset and wow, how beautiful this place is especially at magic hour. I couldn’t resist stealing the bride and groom for a perfect moment as the sun was setting during their cocktail hour (as you will see on the last hot of the highlight reel below). The reception was a non-stop party atmosphere that was rocked by the Hank Lane Band.  They will be getting a 20-25 minute full feature film in the future which is not a wedding video at all, its a cinematic and emotional experience, but for now, sit back and enjoy this short wedding highlight reel from Pennylane Productions.
