Wedding Trailer | Welcome to the Hamptons

Mariel and Jamie love the Hamptons. So it’s no surprise that they would plan the most important day of their lives to take place here. Ironically, one of Mariel’s close family friends recently bought a beautiful horse farm in the Hamptons and Mariel’s dad happen to see it. Once he saw the staircase, he said “Mariel is going to get married here one day.” Fast forward to their engagement party, that same family friend surprised the bride and groom by offering the home for their wedding location. Of course they said “yes.” The weekend started off at Bridgehampton Tennis and Surf Club for their rehearsal dinner followed by a beautiful bonfire on the beach after dessert. The next day was the big day. The ceremony took place right next to the reception tent during sunset followed by an outdoor cocktail hour. The reception was decorated like a dream wedding featuring all-star entertainment by Marianne Bennett Productions. We had the pleasure of working with talented photographer Ira Lippke and his team of Ira Lippke Studios as well as the mastermind behind all the planning Sofia Crokos and her team at Sofia Crokos Events. Wedding Teaser at Tribeca Rooftop | New York City

The Story

Their are certain milestones in your life that stand out above others. Getting married, having a child and graduating from a good school are a few of the biggest. These accomplishments can often be as stressful as they are satisfying. People recommend you space these major events out, but Casey and Ehren are doing them all at the same time.

When the couple found out Casey was pregnant they had under 4 months to plan an entire wedding. That’s the kind of pressure that freezes a lot of people. But, with the help of their family and friends they not only pulled it together, they did it with style.

The most impressive thing about the whole day was just how relaxed Casey and Ehren were. They were positive, always had a smile on their faces and never stressed.

Casey and Ehren had their wedding at Tribeca Rooftop. This New York wedding venue is one of our favorites and has stunning views of the city. Casey and Ehren took full advantage of the venue. Saying their vows at sunset with the Freedom Tower and lower Manhattan skyline as a backdrop.

One of the things most important to the father of the bride was getting some killer drone footage. Anyone that flies drones knows that NYC is about the most daring place to fly a drone so we brought in Daniel Herbert from SkyGear Solutions who did an amazing job.

Jaclyn and Asher had an interesting idea for their first look. Obviously, the groom not seeing the bride’s dress is nothing new, but Asher didn’t think that was fair. On a trip to Hong Kong Asher had a tuxedo custom made and decided Jaclyn wouldn’t be allowed to see it until he saw the dress. Seems fair.

On our pre-wedding phone call Jaclyn and Asher let us know that the ceremony was very important to them. One of the biggest parts of that were the personalized vows they were going to recite. When we know a couple is doing this we always ask to film them writing out the vows. The couple even had custom notebooks just for this purpose.

Cedar Lakes Cabin Wedding

Rustic Wedding Video | Cedar Lakes Cabin

Amy and Brandon were married in sleep-away camp style at Cedar Lakes Cabins in Port Jervis, New Jersey. They chose the venue because they were attracted to the idea of making it a fun active weekend with family and close friends. One of the things we like to ask our couples is the story of how they got together. Amy and Brandon met online, but during their first date they discovered that they actually had been living right across the street from each other. These are the kind of details you can only get by doing your research and speaking with the couple before the wedding day.

We set their first look up near a lake with Brandon standing on an intimate dock while Amy approached him. This allowed us and the photographer to get creative sequences with the bride and groom before the formalities kicked in. By the time the bride walked down the aisle the sun was completely down and we provided additional film lighting outside. This made it possible for us to capture the ceremony as it was literally pitch black outside.

Wedding at Guastavino’s | New York

Wedding at Guastavino’s | New York

We had the pleasure of filming at Guastavino’s in New York City last month for the first time. The first thing we noticed was that the staff was first-class all the way, even down to the sound engineer who made sure we got clean audio for the ceremony and reception.

Early in the day, Jay got a little surprise from his soon-to-be-wife Jamie, when (his favorite) Luke’s lobster rolls were delivered to his hotel. Of course he had to get Jamie back with a delivery of cookies from Magnolia’s Bakery, but the bride was on to him right away.

Somewhere between the guys drinking Bulleit Bourbon and trying to tie their bow ties, we were plotting out where the first look would take place with talented photographer Chris Owyoung from Brian Dorsey Studios. This was also the first time we worked with Chris and he was great. It’s always a pleasure to work with Brian Dorsey and his associates.

Jamie had explained that they never even stepped foot inside the venue when they booked it. Because they were from California, her parents went down to see it in person and gave the couple their seal-of-approval. We agree. Sit back and watch this beautiful highlight film of Jamie and Jay.

Marrying a High School Sweetheart

When we found out Nikki and Benjamin had been dating since high school we couldn’t wait to ask them about it. Benjamin even brought an entire box filled with letters that Nikki had been giving him since they were in 10th grade. Having this kind of visual to go along with voice over is extremely important as it takes the emotion and storytelling to the next level.

One of my favorite moments of the day was when Nikki gifted Benjamin a friendship bracelet that she had taken away from him after a fight they had in high school. Right before the wedding she wrapped it up and had her flower girl deliver it. When Ben realized what it was he got very emotional.

The biggest challenge of the day came in the form of rain. We were supposed to shoot the creative session outside, but thankfully, we got to shoot inside a beautiful mansion and take advantage of the natural light. Later that day Nikki’s mom confessed to me that maybe the rain was meant to be, because it forced them to stay inside which kept the dress clean.
