Feels Like | A Gotham Wedding

New York City…..January 18, 2014….Really, really cold! But who cares, It’s Sari and Matt’s wedding and we’re ready to do our thing.

Hanging out with Sari in the morning was awesome.  She was relaxed, cracking jokes with her bridesmaids, and always had a big smile on her face. She even gave Adam the “I’m watching you wise guy” look as he filmed the comical chatter between the girls. Overhearing dad talk about the surprise cufflinks for Matt, inspired us to immediately pull him aside and get more information.

Matt started the day at legendary Art of Shaving and then headed back to his room to get ready. Too bad as soon as the knife came out, we got the “no filming” look from the barber….. ehhh, no biggie, there’s plenty more for the day. Later, Matt admitted he loved scotch with the boys so Johnny Walker Blue came out to play as soon as he got back to the venue to finish getting dressed.  Matt even took some time out of his scotch club to check the doggie day care webcam to make sure his pup was doing all right.

When it’s really cold, we always think about where we will film the first look and how long the bride and groom will hold out during a creative session. Sari and Matt did not let down. They were troopers..smiling all the way (except Matt may have been a little worried about the oncoming traffic on 37th while we convinced them walk in the middle of the street). We haven’t lost a bride or groom yet, so that’s a good thing! We also got our fix of walls covered in graffiti, loading docks and neon Chinese food signs along with superstar photographer Susan Stripling, one of our favorites. Check out Susan’s blog post on Sari and Matt’s wedding here or if you’re just simply looking for one of the best photographers on earth.

The ceremony and the reception were both held in Gotham Hall.  This beautiful building, formerly the Greenwich Savings Bank, is an impressive venue with high ceilings that very few other wedding locations can match.  Thanks to this we were able to get some epic shots that captured the grand scale of Sari and Matt’s day.

Watch Sari and Matt’s highlight to experience what we did.

Blizzard Wedding at The Bourne Mansion

The New York blizzard of 2013 planned for its arrival on the exact day Kerri and Brian decided to tie the knot. The Long Island expressway was closed and people we’re waking up to almost 30″ of snow but that didn’t stop any of us from getting Kerri and Brian to the church. As the girls rushed around to get ready, Brian and the guys decided to get a little workout with a snowball fight to start the morning. The drinks started early that day to lighten the mood and everyone had smiles on this historic day.

As always it was a pleasure to work with Sherwood Triart Photography and off to St Dominic’s Church in Oyster Bay we went. The ceremony started almost an hour behind due to the travel conditions but believe it or not, there were many guests who made it out to this beautiful affair. You can clearly see the emotions during their vows as they both tried to maintain their composures. After the ceremony, the trolly was escorted by highway patrol to the Suffolk County line.

The reception took place at The Bourne Mansion in Oakdale, New York where the guests were greeted into cocktail hour and the last destination had been reached. We played our very last same day edit at Kerri and Brian’s reception as they both got emotional watching their story unfolding from hours ago.

Winter Wedding in New Jersey

Gillian and Martin got married on January 19, 2013 in Morristown, New Jersey. The day started off at two separate homes as they anxiously got ready for their big day. It was our first time working with photographer Jeff Mosier and what a pleasure….a real pro and highly recommended. We had such a great experience that we added Jeff to our who we love page a day later.

Even though Gillian and Martin got married at a church, they decided to see each other before hand at Gillian’s house. Soon after, we were all off to St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Morristown, New Jersey. Right before the processional was about to start, everyone realized there were no bouquets and that they were accidentally left at the bride’s house during the morning rush. The officiant calmly explained the situation to the guests as someone rushed back to get the flowers and soon after we were on our way to a beautiful ceremony.

After the ceremony, we filmed in Morristown for a while, with the bride and groom walking the streets, getting some ice cream, and hitting Dublin Pub for a quick shot to loosen them up. Morristown has a special place in both Gillian and Martin’s heart so it was nice that we had some time to spend there before the reception.

As the night began to creep in and get colder, we headed to The Venetian in Garfield, New Jersey where we finished up with a great reception starting with their snow-themed first dance. Sit back an enjoy their highlight Reel to a song called “Run Run” by The Rival.
