It is important to remember that in order to make a powerful edit of this dance, we require a full dance with no couples joining in. We are focusing on the right moments and gathering close ups, medium shots, and wide shots as well as reactions from your family and friends to put together this masterpiece. 2-3 minutes of filmming this dance will just cut it. By asking others to join in (sometimes after less than a minute of dancing) we lose potential shots that would have made this dance so much better. So to summarize we suggest the following tips during your first dance.

• Tell your MC that you would prefer to dance the entire first dance alone
• While dancing, its always better to remember to rotate rather than rocking back and forth and pointing in the same direction
• If you haven’t yet, practice your dance a few times just for fun. It will help you feel more natural when you really dance at your wedding
• Try to make sure you stay in the center as much as you can, unless you have a special choreographed dance that forces you to be elsewhere
• If you have a choreographed dance, keep in mind that it will be extremely difficult to get closeups for any length of time and make sure that you practice it untill its second nature. Choreographed dances that are not mastered look unnatural and uncomfortable so if you can’t get it down, revert back to a natural slow dance that you can be comfotable with.
• Under no circumstances should you allow any distractions like photo montages during your first dance. This moment is for you only, hence the name “First Dance”
• Make sure your dance is at least 2.5 minutes, if not longer so it can be filmed properly.
• Don’t get nervous, just block everyone out and own the moment

Royalton Wedding at Roslyn Country Club

Marissa and Miguel got married on October 9th, 2011. Their special day began with an emotional ceremony at Christ the King in Commack, New York. You could tell that Miguel was having a hard time holding back tears as his beautiful bride walked down the aisle. During the creative session it was great to see the couple making each other laugh and keeping each other in high spirits.

Then we headed to The Royalton in Roslyn, New York for one hell of a party. The drinks were flowing freely and DJ Serg had everyone out of their seats for some off the hook dancing. Then a group of showgirls, dressed in sparkling gowns with giant feather head dresses, came out to join the guests on the dance floor! This to the night’s unique and exciting feel. The speeches at the reception that night ran the gamut of emotions. There was the funny which saw the best man and maid of honor betting on who would give the best speech. But there was also the touching as the mother of the bride dedicated Desiderata by Max Ehrmann to the bride’s late father.  It was a special night for a great couple.

Wedding at Westhampton Bath & Tennis Hotel

Lorin and Jordan got married September 24, 2011 at the picturesque beachside Westhampton Bath & Tennis Hotel in Westhampton Beach, New York on slightly overcast but beautiful day. The first look took place on the boardwalk with a stunning view of the crashing waves. The moment was a great mix of sentimental and silly that came through in the couple’s personality all day. Later, Lorin walked down the aisle accompanied by Lucky Chops an awesome brass quartet that really brought a different feel to both the ceremony and the cocktail hour.

Then it was on to the reception where we were in for a real treat. The toasts given by Lorin and Jordan’s family were very different but they all had the same sentiment; this was a couple who not only cared for each other but for all those they loved. To cap off the toasts the groom’s brother brought down the house with his speech that found the perfect mix of poking fun while still being genuinely sweet. Mix that with some great dancing and a performance from Jordan himself and you have a night to remember.

Wedding at Oheka Castle in Cold Spring Harbor, New York

Cassandra and Daniel’s story is really cool. They met on Match.com, had their first date at Washington Rock State Park and later Daniel brought Cassandra back to this memorable spot to make his proposal.

The bride and groom got married on October 1, 2011 at the famous Oheka Castle in Cold Spring Harbor, New York. The morning started off with a some drama as Daniel’s tuxedo took its time getting up to his room but after that little bump in the road the day was off and running. The creative session with Chris from Brett Matthew’s Photography was a blast. Cassandra and Daniel were troopers even when we asked them to do some fast dancing right on the lawn!

The day was just getting started though as the supremely talented singing group The Unexpected Boys brought down the house during the ceremony. Then it was on to the reception where in addition to some off the hook dancing we learned that bride’s dad has a list of 10 rules for dating his daughter that he had to be dissuaded from showing Daniel when Cassandra brought him home. As we arrived at the church, Cindy from Cynthia Ross Affairs was diligently setting up the decor inside. Fast forward and hour later and here comes the bride, along with the cute flower girl and ring bearer holding that very same sign to alert the masses that Heather was about to walk down the aisle.

The ceremony went just as planned but some things did not. Originally we were going to make it to the Children’s Museum in Garden City to shoot some creative shots but as we all know, November is the month that we notice the sun just disappears early. So, we decided to hang at the church a little longer and take advantage of “magic hour” which is when the sun becomes a beautiful amber right before setting.

The reception was awesome and MRG Entertainment made sure of this. It took place at Jericho Terrace in Mineola, New York. This wedding video highlight is the very first one that we used 35mm film stock emulation from CineGrain. CineGrain is a film stock company that offers world class film looks for hollywood and commercial films. Sit back and enjoy this short highlight of Heather and Joseph’s wedding. Soon they will be enjoying their full feature film which will be more like 20-25 mins long telling the complete story of their day.

Nicole and Jason got married on June 18, 2011 in Tarrytown, NY. Starting the day with the bride was a blast. The girls got silly and mimed having a jump rope competition. Then it was time for mimosas and a toast to Nicole’s big day. Back at the Tarrytown House Jason and his groomsmen chilled out with a few drinks of their own.

The bride and groom got married at the beautiful Immaculate Conception in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Jason was all smiles as his stunning bride was escorted down the aisle by her father.

The creative session was awesome! We got a lot of great shots down by the Hudson River but the highlight had to be reenacting Nicole and Jason’s first dance with the Tappan Zee bridge as the backdrop. The visuals were sick! As always working with an artist like Ricky Restiano was a great experience.

The reception took place at the classy Tarrytown House and the party was awesome! It’s always fantastic to see a bride and groom out on the dance floor having a great time. An exceptional end to an exceptional day.

The ceremony took place at St Rosalia Regina Pacis RC Church in Brooklyn where we’ve been many times before. The anchor point of the day was of course the emotional moment when Jacqueline walked the aisle with her dad towards her soon-to-be-husband Thomas as he stood star-struck watching his angel come walking towards him.

Of course I told the The bride and groom to think of something out of the box for the creative session and they decided to load up the groomsmen with a bunch of shaken champagne bottles to blast open at Brooklyn Bridge Park. Of course the guys didn;t have a problem finishing off what was still left in the bottles. The view overlooking Manhattan was beautiful so we stuck around to get some nice journalistic shots of the bride and groom in their native Brooklyn hometown.

The reception took place at West Mount Country Club in New Jersey and the reception was a non stop party. They finished the night off with a crazy after hours party featuring a 2nd DJ, cigars, and midnite snacks like sliders, onion rings, and more.
